The Award Goes to…

Thank you so much to Johanna Mathieson and Artists in Partnership for hosting the amazing โ€œWomen in the Artsโ€ virtual ceremony on Monday evening!! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ…

It took a bit of teamwork to get the live stream going, but we made it work! (Because thatโ€™s what we do! ๐Ÿ˜‰) Thank you to everyone who waited patiently by their computers, tablets, and phones for the event to start.

Iโ€™m a bit modest when it comes to getting a recognition like this, mostly because I feel embarrassed and canโ€™t quite figure out how to express my gratitude effectively. These awards make me so proud, and holding them brought me back to the days of accepting arts awards in elementary through high school. My height hasnโ€™t changed since then, so thereโ€™s that. In hindsight, I wish I had realized then how special those art awards were instead of focusing on not being the smartest, coolest, or most athletic. This honor I received in 2020 is even more special to me now, especially knowing I get to share it with so many incredible women in a beautiful and supportive community.

Thank you to AIP, thank you to @ingriddodddpr for nominating me, and congratulations to all of my fellow honorees! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’œ

As I said in my semi-awkward and mostly unprepared acceptance speech – I really have to thank my parents most of all for accepting that becoming a lawyer, doctor, or astronaut was not my fate. They supported my weird journey and love of the arts even while they were still trying to get me to move out 5 years after graduating college ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Letโ€™s keep painting this crazy world with our art! ๐ŸŽจ
